I take pictures of what I’m interested in–things that are inspirational, fashionable, intriguing, and meaningful. From the sad looking man on the metro to the Parisian fashionistas, something about each person and scene I photograph engages me, and teaches me what it is to be human. With a loyalty to the frame, I take pictures to capture the statements that people make, and the minutiae of our lives.

Do you really just go up to strangers and ask to take their photo? And do they (almost always) say yes? That’s amazing. I can’t even imagine even trying to do that. Oh and beyond lovely photos too!:)
Ha I do. Sometimes it’s pretty rough, and the old lady you ask to photograph thinks you’re trying to kidnap her, but most of the time they say yes! phewie!
As a photographer (amateur one) I also find stories in every moment – and with people, it’s even MORE interesting how they can reveal quite a bit of character without knowing it! Well done in capturing their personalities in a single shot! You have inspired me to take more photos of PEOPLE! 🙂

Your “about” section is a little polaroid-in-time of you as well 🙂 Recently while getting a pedicure there was another woman present and after a glass of wine she and I started talking, I mentioned wanting to learn more about the art of photography and she said “It’s easy, put what you love in the frame” … I’ve carried that with me as I think it applies to any medium of expression. The translation of what you love and others seeing it … that’s the icing on the cake.

Wow, I love your photos! I can’t seem to capture the interesting people I see here in Paris (they move too fast, I’m a bad photographer, etc.) but your photos are fantastic. Can’t wait to see more!
It is hard to capture exactly what you see or want in such a fast paced city, or even a slow paced city, but you’re not a bad photographer! It’s just about having the mind and spirit to see things that touch you, and then a lot of time and luck to capture it;)

New follower. I really dig your photos. A lot of them seem personal in a sense. I mean, you photograph strangers and you don’t seem picky on photographing people who rock a particular style, which is great. So from that, I get this sense of comfort from the person being photographed…? I’m sorry if that doesn’t make sense.
Aside from my not-so-clear compliment, great blog! I hope to see many more fantastic photos!
Also, would you mind giving me some C&C on some of my photos? I take photos of just random things I do, but I don’t have–I don’t seem to have a particular style so many of my photos lack a sort of flow.

Thank you very much! That’s a huge compliment…of course every photographer wants to establish a certain style/aesthetic, so I’m glad that you say that about my photographs.. It’s funny because I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily aware of this “sense of comfort” when I’m shooting, but as a person I feel like your comment reflects my attitudes about people and the world…if THAT makes sense;)

It really depends on the subject and from what perspective I’m trying to take the photo. I’ve found that asking beforehand can often ruin the shot that I’m trying to take, as it inevitably becomes much more controlled, contrived, or uptight. But I do ask permission a lot of the time, ESPECIALLY if I’m taking a portrait where the subject is looking into the lens. Otherwise, I try to stay as inconspicuous as possible so that I can actually take the photo I want to take (mostly for documentary photography type photos i.e. candid life and moments). Hope this helps! XD
